The lower section of the spine is called the lumbar spine (LS). In humans, it consists of five vertebrae, the lumbar vertebrae. It is highly stressed by the upright gait and is the base of the trunk. This is where painful irritation often occurs. As "low back pain" we know colloquially the wide range from simple muscular pain syndrome to disc damage with neurological deficits. Training the lumbar spine (LS) offers many advantages. It strengthens muscles, improves posture, increases strength and flexibility, and can prevent or relieve back pain. A strong lumbar spine helps keep the body fit, prevent injuries and treat specific ailments.
